I have always wanted to live there for some reason, but I couldn’t figure out why until I experienced it. I spend most of my time volunteering for Basfor-Forest Seed Centre in Cochabamba, working as a photographer. Basfor gave me a great opportunity of free travel because we very often had to travel to search for seeds. I say free travel, because with budget of 3 Bolivianos per day it was from sky fallen opportunity, but certainly, there was an extra budget for must-see places. I quickly got used to the fact that we have been visiting places where in normal circumstances people wouldn’t go to. Starting from adorable, time forgotten villages and communities, ending in middle of the sub tropical forest working with students or swimming in muddy jungle rivers. Very hard work combined with a real pleasure. Life style tailored to my needs!

After a couple of months living in Bolivia, organization called Ayuda en Accion took me to the most remote communities in Bolivia such as Potosi - the highest city in the word (4,090m). I have had a chance to experience and live a very traditional community life-style. Eating chicken prepared by one of the oldest and traditional techniques ever innovated or discovered. “Baking” in the earth oven. A hole is dug into the earth, filled with leafs and hot stones, onto which chicken is placed in its whole beauty. Then drinking home made spirit or dancing on the community carnivals, but of course I have also been attending community meetings or working with local people on the water barrier to make sure there is enough water available throughout the whole year.

Second time I climbed the northern face of glacier Illimany (6400m) with very good friend of mine Ines. We didn’t reach the peak due to a lack of equipment and experience.
I got very familiar with Cochabamba´s surroundings such as National Park Tunari, laguna Warawara at the very top the park (4000m).
Altiplano, as one of my favourite wonders of the world
Lake Titicaca and its amazing island Isla Del Sol. I will never forget 2 Bolivianos boat trip to this island.
Yacuiba, border between Bolivia and Argentina, as one of the most interesting places I have ever seen due to the nature of it´s cross-border life style.

And many many more….

This is just to give an overview and show some of my photographs.

I have also made a documentary movie called Los Andes covering my stoppage in Bolivia. To watch the video click here.
